This year, we decided to spice up our homeschool curriculum by delving into the world of gardening and canning. And the cherry on top (or should I say the peach?) was the scrumptious reward waiting for us at the end of our adventure.
Our journey of discovery led us to a variety of delectable fruits, from juicy blueberries to succulent strawberries and fragrant peaches. What made it even more engaging was how we seamlessly integrated math, reading, and a dash of science into the art of creating homemade jams and ice cream.
Speaking of ice cream, one of the highlights of our homeschooling culinary escapade was whipping up a batch of Homemade Peach Ice Cream. Here's the recipe for you to try at home:
Homemade Peach Ice Cream Recipe
Ingredients:
5 cups peaches, chopped small
4 eggs
2 tsp vanilla
2 tsp almond extract
1 qt of half & half
3 c sugar
Instructions: Place peaches and 1.5 cups of sugar into a food processor. Mix until peaches are the desired size. Add the remaining ingredients to the ice cream churn and allow it to run as directed on the churn.
Note: This recipe includes eggs.
